32-COUNT, 4-WALL LINE DANCE, BEGINNER LEVEL
Choreography by BILL BADER Vancouver, BC October, 1990
MUSIC:
Suits many phrased songs in a wide range from 132 to 174 bpm):
Original Song: "Boot Scootin' Boogie" by Asleep At The Wheel (148
bpm)
Medium: "Boot Scootin' Boogie" by Brooks & Dunn (134 bpm)
"Dance" by Twister Alley (138 bpm)
Fast: "Boogie & Beethoven" by Larry Gatlin & Gatlin
Brothers (158 bpm)
Turbo: "The Bug" by Mary Chapin Carpenter (174 bpm)
Choreographer's Notes:
The song "Boot Scootin' Boogie", written by Ronnie Dunn of the
future duo of Brooks & Dunn was first recorded by Asleep At The Wheel in
1989, but never released as a single. I bought the tape hoping the song
would be suitable for a line dance(!) As far as we know, this 1990 dance was
the first line dance to be called "Boot Scootin' Boogie" and
remains one of the most widely danced versions. The nickname "Vancouver
Boogie" started in Los Angeles in 1993 and spread to England, but of
course I prefer the original name. This step description shows the way the
dance is now done in most parts of the world, with the last 8 counts
slightly simplified from the original.
